Our co-founder, Cale Jefferies, is a fifth-generation seed farmer with deep roots in the Prairies. In 2015, he teamed up with his wife Hailey, who was inspired by the potential of fava to make food more nourishing and sustainable. Together, they set out to unlock the full value of this remarkable bean—from fava to fork.

Prairie Fava planted the seed

Now we’re rolling up our sleeves to take on everything that follows to ensure success, building a future that includes everyone—consumers, food manufacturers, the ag industry. Because everyone on that list is a kindred soul with the same objective: to create and eat food that does not drain the earth’s resources, but rather builds new resources to ensure a healthier future, on shelf, in pantries, and in smiling, well-fed faces.
